About Us
"Many observers believe that quality has decreased in recent years. If this is truly the case, the field is wide open for those who are willing to put forth a little effort. There is a direct correlation between the quality of any work and the
success of it's producer"
Independence Construction began as a daydream in the summer of 1999. Our first job was an 1800 square foot deck above the tackle shop at the famous marlin fishing mecca, Odens Dock in Hatteras NC. We had no compressor, no guns, no generator, only tool bags, a level and a circular saw. At the end of our first job, we purchased a framing gun, a pancake compressor, one hose and one cord. It is amazing how quickly 1800 square foot of decking will make one appreciate pneumatic tools. We continued doing small jobs on the weekends while holding full time jobs on framing crews and fishing boats. Between the drastically changing weather and the scarcity of steady jobs, we moved our way north finally landing in Midlothian, Virginia. Having spent every summer vacation as a child on the Carolina coast, and by framing "beach houses", we are built upon a strong appreciation for the larger stick frame plans seldom seen in today's hustle bustle truss roof market.
